Community Bible Study

Avon CT

Come see what happens in people’s lives when they discover God through the study of His Word, the Bible. Our classes meet weekly during the school year September through May. Each class participant receives a course book with a commentary and home study questions. Each week, you’ll participate in small group discussions and a large group teaching. From time to time, fellowship meals will provide special times of sharing and relationship building within the class.

Fall 2024 and Spring 2025:

Matthew - Join us for this 30 week course as we explore Matthew. Matthew wrote by the power of the Holy Spirit, primarily to his fellow Jews, proving through Scripture that Jesus's life and ministry fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies concerning the Messiah.

In studying this Gospel, you can clearly hear Matthew's message: Jesus is indeed the long-awaited Jewish Messiah, the King of kings and Lord of lords, Immanuel, God with us!

The book of Psalms has served as the hymnbook and prayerbook of God's people from ancient times and on into the present. Known as the Psalter, this collection of Holy Spirit-inspired poetry captures the highs and lows of life. the Psalms are powerful prayers, guiding us into honest communication with God. They validate our doubts, passions, fears, and longings, and show us how to draw near to God in our struggles. This Bible study organizes the Psalms thematically, making it easier to grasp their main ideas and apply them to your own conversations with God.

Next Gen Ministry

CBS offers programs with vetted and trained teachers for ages 0-2, preschool classes for ages 2-6 & youth classes for ages 6-13. Our YOUTH program for grades 1-8 parallels the adult curriculum with age-appropriate home study questions for students to learn and seek Scripture on their own. We have a primary workbook for early readers and a youth workbook for older children. Students will experience a group discussion time, prayer, scripture memorization and other activities to enhance their learning. We seek to provide a nurturing environment and welcome your children to experience the love of Jesus through the caring servants in our CBS Children's Ministry.
